Why Habotai Silk?! Why hypoallergenic sheets and hypoallergenic bedding?!
Since the 4th century BC, silk has been a prized trade commodity from China. The first trade route connecting Europe and Asia was called the "silk road" as pictured below
The 7000 mile route spanned China, Central Asia, Northern India and the Roman Empire. It connected the Yellow River Valley to the Mediterranean Sea and passed through places such as Chinese cities Kansu and Sinkiang and present-day countries Iran and Syria: courtesy of thinkquest.org
Different types of silk were sought after then and still are now, but not for the reasons you might think. Aside from its soft texture, there are numerous health benefits associated with pure habotai silk:
1) Resistance to
moisture
Silk is a natural fiber that is air permeable. Containing 18 types of amino
acids, it naturally absorbs humidity (up to 30% of its weight) without feeling
damp.

2) Allergy resistance -
Hypoallergenic
Need allergy relief?
Silk contains Sericin which is an anti-acarid (bed mites don't like silk!). Silk
bedding is the best possible choice for those with sensitive skin, allergies or for those that
just don't like bed mites.

3) Fungi immunity
Silk is naturally immune to fungi. Sheets or bedding made of other materials are
treated with trace chemicals to prevent fungi; these chemicals cause fabric to
deteriorate over time. Our naturally hypoallergenic sheets and bedding are chemical and dye free.

4) Silk contains natural
cellular albumen fiber
Cellular albumen fiber contributes to skin health by speeding up the metabolism
of skin cells (decreasing the aging of skin); This, coupled with the amino acid
and permeability properties of silk, can contribute to the relief of joint pain,
asthma, arteriosclerosis and neurodermatitis.

5) Maintains body
temperature
Silk does not conduct heat or static electricity like other fibers; heat is
retained during cold air temperatures and redundant heat is shed during summer
temperatures. Silk is "cool in the summer, warm in the winter".
Today, there are a number of things that are bad for you. Our hypoallergenic sheets and bedding are an example of something that might help a little... while you sleep!
